Resistance and the law

This blog will be devoted to exploring ways in which resistance is suppressed or encouraged by the law. Resistance is defined as a form of opposition that involves at least defiance of the law. It can cover behavior ranging from passive resistance to civil disobedience or even armed rebellion. Resistance obviously creates a challenge for the law, and the temptation has often been to repress it as crime. Yet at the margins, it is possible to detect a whole variety of ways in which resistance is tolerated, upheld and legitimized.
